OpenAI announced Dots on 2026-09-29. It works with the plugins and apps you have in ChatGPT, and its proactive work is read-only, with write actions following "ask before" rules.

On 2026-10-05 a user's dot in the Codex app used 0bridge through their ChatGPT setup. It listed 0bridge's tools and read through them. Asked to keep a quote in a Drive folder, it wrote the folder's README.md, changed a decision with the version it had read, and kept a record of the conversation in the folder. Drive shows its saves as made by ChatGPT. Chat-app history was off for that account, so it saved the conversation as a Drive file rather than with bridge__session_save.

What to try#

Set up 0bridge in ChatGPT first: ChatGPT. Dots then has it, with the same rules as ChatGPT: your connected services, Drive, memory on request, and history only while Chat history is on.

If Dots offers a place to paste an MCP URL, use https://0bridge.dev/mcp and sign in. If it only takes a URL and a token, use an app token: Any MCP client.

Does Dots have a shell?#

We don't know yet. If Dots runs shell commands on a computer of its own, the setup for agent computers could work there. Until someone confirms that it has a shell, we list it as unverified, and we don't say it works.

Be careful with approvals#

If you let Dots approve your coding agents' permission prompts through 0bridge, test it with something harmless first. Until we've seen it work, keep approving from the dashboard or a client you've tested.

Your dev host from Dots#

Dots supports MCP events (OpenAI's documentation names dots alongside Work chats). 0bridge offers three, for the supervisor agent on your own machine: a worker's question (host.task.question), a completed task and a failed one. With them a dot can hand work to your machine, tell you when a worker asks something, pass on your answer to that worker, and tell you when the task is done: Dots and your dev host.

As of 2026-10-05 this is tested only on a local copy of 0bridge with a stand-in for ChatGPT's receiver. We haven't seen a real dot subscribe to 0bridge's events or receive one. Until then, check with bridge__host_status or bridge__host_questions rather than waiting for a dot to tell you.
